Simon Carter started designing men’s pewter brooches in London in the mid 80’s with a rags and tatters tale, “I started at one end of the King’s Road with my 1980s Gladstone bag full of brooches and by the time I’d got to Sloane Square I hadn’t sold a single one. It had been a complete, unmitigated disaster… I was very miserable and wondering how many people I could give a brooch to for Christmas. Then I passed the jewellery shop Cobra & Bellamy. As I had nothing to lose, I went in. After picking over them, they agreed to take 50, and that was the turning point.”. Following this, Simon Carter the brand was born, soon offering sunglasses, watches and cufflinks. Ten years later and Simon Carter has cornered the cufflink market through iconic designs like the ‘Aspirin’ cufflink, which stored tablets within the actual cufflink. Ties, leather goods and then, a full formal and casual range of men’s clothing followed – all consistently adhering to the core values of the Simon Carter brand. Since the beginning Simon Carter has struck a chord with urban professionals looking to inject a contemporary lightness of touch in their own personal style. October 2007 saw the launch of Simon Carter’s flagship store in Covent Garden, London, offering the full range of men’s clothing and accessories under in Simon Carters’ catalogue. The first Simon Carter store in North America also launched in 2007 in Toronto. View the full range of Simon Carter Accessories available at Heal's. |
