Colour is graded through continents and countries, to remove the abrupt borderlines of more traditional designs. The map is printed using a lithographic printing process onto a coated, silk-finish paper, with special colours, including silver metallic for the seas. The print is finished with a sealer, to protect the inks, and a gloss UV varnish is applied to thelandmasses for contrast.
