History and Source

Robinia is a hard wood sourced from within Europe. The natural oils within robinia resist the weather and the elements making it suitable for outdoor use.

The colour of the timber is a golden brown and this matures to a warmer, darker brown over time and exposure.

Caring for your Robinia Furniture

To maintain the appearance we recommend the following treatment once or twice a year: Wash with a very mild soap solution and rinse with clean water, then rub down with fine sand paper if needed. Following this, linseed or teak oil can be applied.

Heal’s recommend Rustin’s ‘Danish Oil’ as unlike many teak oils, it is completely absorbed into the wood and maintains a matt appearance. It will however darken the colour of the wood. The oil is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Oils are available from most reputable DIY and hardware stores. Please note that the manufacturer’s instructions should be read carefully before any application.

Robinia is highly resistant to the elements, however it is recommended that the furniture is covered or stored in a dry, ventilated, unheated place during the Winter months.

Fittings should be periodically checked for tightness, as they may loosen with expansion/contraction of the timber.

Cleaning

For day to day cleaning, the product should be wiped down with a damp cloth.
