George Nelson
George Nelson trained as an architect at Yale but by the 1940s started becoming known for creating beautiful and innovative products. He went on to create classics of modern furniture and interior design like the the Ball Clock (1947), the Bubble Pendants (starting in 1952) and the Night Mantle Clock (1984).
George Nelson's conception of design as a system, his approach that went beyond mere styling and his achievements in the teaching of design, give his work particular significance and appeal in today's context.
