Bodum was established in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1944 by Peter Bodum. Originally a wholesaler of homeware goods, during the 1960s Bodum developed into a manufacturer of cafetières and coffee presses. In 1974 Bodum launched Bistro the first coffee press cafetiere which followed the company’s simple philosophy: form follows functionality. Made from quality materials and with a beautifully simple design, the Bistro cafetiere is widely regarded as a design classic.

In 1991, in collaboration with the British Tea Council, Bodum developed the Assam teapot which reinvented tea brewing. The Assam teapot applies the same principles of as the coffee press system to tea brewing – a spacious filter for brewing is easily stoppable by pressing down a plunger.

Bodum now makes a range of cafetières, tea pots, kitchen electricals, storage jars, kitchen accessories and barbeques.
