Kay and Stemmer

Kay+Stemmer were commissioned through our Heal’s Discovers project to design their first contemporary furniture range for retail. The collection includes Flow Desk, Flow Nesting Tables, Flow Bookcase and Flow Sideboard, made from walnut and oak, and all featuring organic, flowing curves that give the range its name. In 2008/9 followed the Flow Sofa and Edith and Agnes shelving units – all carrying the hallmark elegance and endurance of a Kay+Stemmer design.

Kay+Stemmer’s most recent designs for Heal’s are the Stride range; a dining table, dining chair and home office desk, all inspired by Christopher Heal’s utility furniture of the 1950s. These pared back designs with meticulous detailing bring a contemporary elegance to any home.

Sarah Kay and Andrea Stemmer are furniture designers who formed their partnership in 2000, having both trained as cabinet makers at the highly respected Parnham College in Dorset.
