Maria Hatling is a printmaker/artist from Norway currently living and working from her studio in South London. Before launching her own line of limited edition Giclee prints and soft furnishing range in 2011 she worked as an in - house print and homeware designer for London brand Orla Kiely for six years launching the Homeware range.

A lot of Maria Hatling's work is based on memories from growing up in Scandinavia. For Maria that part of the world represents clean, spaciousness and closeness to nature. It is very modern but at the same time as it is also very traditional. Her work is similar in this aspect, rejecting many of the traditional print making techniques choosing to draw and create some artwork freehand directly on the computer. Maria's work created directly on the computer has often a more hand drawn human feel than her work created with traditional pen and paper. She sees the computer only as another tool for artists to express themselves. Maria Hatling's work ultimatley explores the relationship between colour, shape, texture, space, technology and tradition.
