Kartell FL/Y Transparent Pendant Light by Ferruccio Laviani. The FL/Y hanging pendant lamps are available in a range of colours. They create a light and airy feel with irridescent reflections of light through the transparent shade. Great alone or in clusters. The fly pendant is also available in opaque white and opaque black for a sleek, contemporary look. Yellow, red, sage and cobalt are available to special order.

I love this light but it wasn't easy to install & is made of a very soft plastic which means it scratches very easily. We had to request a replacement because the first one was so badly scratched but the second shade also has scratches which we decided to ignore. [...] & it also looks great in our new kitchen.

we bought this for our sitting room and it looks great!

we have a fairly high ceiling, but still had to adjust a lot to get the right heigh - my husband was easily able to make the necessary adjustments though. Despite it not having the big drop as shown in the pictures as our ceiling just isn't high enough, it still makes a big impact as the shade is so wide.

The bulb it comes with is very bright though - we will try and find a lower watt to replace I think as for a sitting room it's a bit harsh.

I have two above my dining table. They look great, but the bulb is too bright for dining and is not dimmable. I am still trying to find a suitable replacement bulb before the dark nights draw in.
My electrician installed it so I have no idea re difficulty. It is mounted on a sloping ceiling so I guess it was tricky. We decided to leave quite a length of flex (more than in the pictures) so it curls down from the ceiling attractively.

The pendant hangs in our front reception room and fits in rather nicely and due to the wide range of colours, one should always find a light that suits their specific decor.

It's size is a bonus as our room is large and has high ceilings, a smaller shade would be swallowed.

It is rather tough to install and needs at least two persons to do so (like most pendants) because you have to cut the support cable and wire to size before you hang it can be quite nerve wracking as once cut...it stays cut. If you are not confident, I would suggest hiring a professional.

The light is also on the expensive side. I have and did see it approx £20 cheaper on the internet. Be careful of the bulb supplied! We have a dimmer function for our lighting and the bulb was not compatable and burnt out - this was not stated at time of purchase or in the instruction booklet.

Other than that, the Fly is a stunning light for any contemporary dwelling.

Having just installed it we think they look amazing! They are large but because transparent they do not dominate as much as the size might hint at.

Re fitting make sure you read the instructions very carefully and it's fine. The only fiddly bit was what to do with earth wires as this lamp does not take them (only live and neutral) so you have to curl the earth wires up out of the way. Also you are likely to need to cut the wire that the lamp suspends from to the right length. Instructions say you can curl the wire inside the rose but this didn't work for me. The power cable also looks really cool if you leave it quite long so don't be in a rush to cut that too short.

My home was recently affected by the floods in November and I lost everything on the ground floor of the house. As horrible as it has been, and we're not there yet, being able to completely make over the house has been amazing. Heals has opened my eyes to completely new ideas and this light is going to look stunning when in a couple of weeks the dining room is painted and put back together

Fell in love with this shade the moment I saw it.

Disappointed it was made of plastic rather than glass as would have felt I was getting more for my money.

Based on the comments for this product, we did get an electrician round to fit them. He did struggle to install and get the 'ceiling rose cup' to fit snug to the ceiling though.

They look amazing installed however the light does take a bit of getting used to as we have gone from a strip of 4 spotlights to a single pendant.

The energy saving lightbult provided doesn't give much glow but I have since seen this shade installed in a local furniture shop and they have replaced the bulb with a reflector bulb which is something I'm considering.

Love it! Was suprised how big it was as the photo was a bit misleading - however I should really have measured it. It is certainly more of a statement piece than first anticipated, but I still love it.

The instruction didn't really help and my husband swore a lot when putting it up, but we, or rather he, got there in the end.
