Danish designer, Verner Panton (1926-1998) studied at Odense Technical College before enrolling at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen as an architecture student.

After working at the architectural practice of renound architect, Arne Jacobsen, Verner Panton went on to establish his own independent studio for architecture and design in 1955. His furniture designs, such as the Cone Chair, attracted attention with their geometric forms and psychedelic colours. In the following years Panton created numerous designs for seating, furniture and lighting and became part of a generation of architects who turned successfully toward product and interior design.

It was his passion for geometric forms and colour that inspired him to create unconventional, futuristic designs that best represent the 1960s style. Panton's collaboration with design company, Vitra, began in the early 1960s, when the company decided to develop what became his best known design, the Panton Chair, which was introduced in 1967. He became the designer of the very first single form, injection moulded plastic chair and a master of 1960s design that introduced the pop aesthetic.
